Time and frequency synchronization of bistatic FMCW radar

Bistatic radar has transmitter and receiver separated on different platforms. It has many operational advantages for freedom and used in many applications. Especially, bistatic FMCW radar is being developed because of low-weight and cost-effectiveness. However, it is important to take into account the synchronization in time and frequency since transmitter and receiver use different oscillators. Before signal processing at the receive end, time offset and frequency offset must be considered in process. We assumed that the beacon is between Tx and Rx. Using MLE, we find out the time offset and frequency offset in bistatic triangular FMCW system considering Gaussian noise in channel and phase noise in oscillators.
