A Study on Energy Efficient and Reliable Data Transfer (EERDT) Protocol for WBAN

In this work, we have proposed a reliable, power efficient and high throughput routing protocol named Energy Efficient and Reliable Data Transfer (EERDT) for WBAN. We used hierarchical routing to minimize energy consumption and single-hop routing to transfer critical data directly to base station. ATTEMPT protocol abbreviated as Adaptive Threshold-based Thermal-aware Energy-efficient Multi-hop Protocol is used for comparing with the proposed technique EERDT. In ATTEMPT protocol, single-hop as well as multi-hop communication is used. Direct communication to base station is used to transmit critical data and multi-hop routing is used for ordinary data transmission. Simulation results showed that EERDT protocol enhances the network stability period which in turn increases packet delivery to base station which is major interest for patient monitoring as well as in other applications. The simulation results showed that EERDT is more energy efficient and reliable than ATTEMPT.
