Development and implementation of real-time ultrasound process tomography using a transputer network

The paper describes the development of parallel forms of the acoustic backprojection algorithm using real-time parallel processing of ultrasound sensor data for the synthesis of process tomography flow images. Evaluations are included of both tuned and dynamic parallel implementations of the algorithm, complete with performance benchmark results. A performance monitor is also described which provides load balance data with minimal overhead on the transputer network and without any special hardware.
