HSDPA capacity of TDD-CDMA systems with smart antennas

The capacity of integrated system with time division duplex(TDD) and high speed downlink packet access(HSDPA) as well as smart antenna(SA) technology is investigated.Firstly Shannon formula is extended to estimate the effect of smart antennas on channel capacity by means of introducing a gain factor. The radio link quality gain brought out by smart antennas for HSDPA is also analyzed. The HSDPA theoretic pole rate is deduced with different Modulation Coding schemes by link-level simulation. Finally, the frequency band utilization ratio of 3G and 3.5G standards is given and compared with Shannon formula to understand the mobile network evolution roadmap.
