Cooperative power saving strategies in DVB-H network with multi-hop support in short-range link

Energy saving is always a crucial issue since Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) network's mobile terminal is energy constrained. Based on the energy saving strategy of cooperative data reception in cellular link and the cooperative transmitting between mobile terminals over short-range link, a multi-hop supported short-range cooperative strategy is introduced. The performance of energy saving is significantly improved while the node will cooperate with more nodes in the piconet. Up to 52% power saving can be achieved in a three node piconet according to the simulation as well as 7.6% more gains compared with the previous cooperative strategy under the same scenario.
