AN IMPROVED NONCAUSAL FILTERING TECHNIQUE

This paper presents a time reversal based noncausal IIR filtering scheme which offers significantly fewer operations than similarly performing causal approaches. This new scheme improves on previous multi-pass approaches by using single-pass overlap- save based block processing for on-line noncausal filtering of infinite length inputs. Computer simulations are used to verify the expected magnitude amd phase response of an example noncau;sal filter. Nine filter examples are used to directly compare the proposed noncausal filter to a standard causal FIR approach in terms of multiplication operations and roundoff noise.
