A real-time wireless network architecture for seismic data acquisition system based on multi-level radio network is proposed. At the first level, every 16–32 seismic acquisition units are combined into “domains”. Units transmit data over the low-speed radio channel with GFSK or GMSK modulation in the sub-gigahertz band to the domain coordinator. The domain coordinators are combined into a “cluster” using the second level radio network based on IEEE, 802.11b/g radio channel and message forwarding method. The third level is introduced when the total number of measuring channels is greater than 1000. In this work, we also have noted advantages of the proposed architecture in comparison with the existing cable-free RT2 system.
