Cholesterol Granuloma (Iatrogenic) Further Evidence of Etiology, a Case Report

Four years later the patient died of a bronchopneumonia due to complication of metastatic adenocarcinoma of the pancreas. Both temporal bones were acquired and processed for histologic evaluation. A detailed analysis of the right temporal bone is not necessary for the purposes of this paper; there was no evidence of residual tumor. The interesting finding is that the epitympanum, which had been blocked off by the muscle graft, was filled with cholesterol granuloma (Fig. 1).
