Reconfiguration process and its performance evaluation for enterprise information system

Frequent reconfigurations of Enterprise Information System (EIS) are necessary to keep pace with rapid changes in business environment. There might exist several reconfiguration blueprints catering to specific reconfiguration requirements, but at present there are no such a technique to evaluate the performance of reconfiguration blueprints contrastively and completely. Meanwhilethe system designers/mangers need such a technique to select one blueprint with best performance to be executed in practice. Based on the summerization of reconfiguration properties, the reconfiguration process on EIS was described in form and was further abstracted as the mapping between business models, software models and system execution models. A set of quantitative/qualitative indicators used to evaluate reconfiguration performance were then presented in detail in three aspects: complexity, agility and risk. The corresponding evaluation process using these indicators was also briefly introduced. At last, the methodology was validated by a practical case. The research result has great significance to the standardization of reconfiguration process and improvements on reconfiguration performance.
