Some Properties of the Squared Euclidean Distance Location Problem1

Abstract Three properties of the squared Euclidean distance location problem are presented. Two of the properties are related to the construction of contour lines; the third property concerns the use of the method of successive displacements in solving the multifacility location problem. The properties are proven and example problems are used to illustrate the application of the properties.
