Research on the Construction of Innovation-driven Smart Cities

A number of domestic and foreign cities have began building smart cities, in order to make the smart-city construction more efficient and practically significant, sum up the main content of the innovation-driven smart city and analyze its importance. Firstly this paper describes the connotation, the status of domestic and foreign construction of the smart cities, analyzes and summarizes five different typical paths of the smart city construction; the five paths are innovation-driven, industry-driven, sustainable development, multi-target development and management services driven. Then the paper analyzes the main content and the importance of the innovation-driven smart city construction, it argues that the path of innovation-driven is a very promising model. Finally the paper uses empirical research methods and takes Ningbo city as a case of depth exploration on innovation-driven smart city. Results of this study can provide a theoretical basis and practical experience for the smart city construction.
