Structure Comparison of High-Frequency Planar Power Integrated Magnetic Circuits

World power consumption increases from year to year; hence, it is essential to strike new paths in finding effective results for power efficient devices. DC-DC converters are applied in various equipment such as solar photovoltaic installations as well as consumer electronic devices such as LED illumination. To satisfy the need of room saving constructions, planar transformers and integrations of passive parts of the converter are adopted for these purposes. This paper compares two different types of high-frequency planar integrated systems via finite element method and investigates the strengths and weaknesses of both structures.
