Fibre optic interferometric sensors for measurement of physical quantities (Abstract only)

Fiber-optic monochromatic interferometers have the significant advantage to measure displacements, fiber strain, and other physical parameters using secondary transducers, with extreme resolution and large dynamic range. In order to maintain their performance in hostile environment, they can b constructed as remote, electrically passive sensors. In a critical survey of components, architecture, and applications of fiber-optic interferometric sensors and sensor networks, their practical results and specific problems are discussed.
