WVD Method for Analyzing Modulated Period Signature of Propeller-driven Aircraft

Propeller-driven aircraft is a military aircraft in common use.It is of great military significance to identify propeller-driven aircraft using the active service radar.Many researches prove that the modulated period signature of the rotating structure in air-defense radar returns is an effective feature for identifying the propeller-driven aircraft.Therefore,based on the parameter model of modulation,this paper presents a new method-WVD for analyzing the modulated period signature of the rotating structure in air-defense radar returns.Furthermore,WVD is used to analyze the modulated period signature of propeller-driven aircraft in the simulated radar returns and two kinds of propeller-driven aircrafts in the actual radar returns respectively.The simulated and actually analyzed results indicate that WVD is a proper and efficient method for analyzing the modulated period signature of the rotating structure in air-defense radar returns.
