Performance enhancement of the Dual Active Bridge with dual phase shift control and variable frequency modulation

This paper presents a new hybrid control strategy for control of Dual Active Bridge (DAB) based DC-DC Converter for bidirectional power flow control aimed for storage systems. The problems of DAB based DC-DC converter, viz., peaking of inrush current, increased reactive power transaction, decreased power transfer capability, slow dynamic response, circulating current, to name a few, are shown addressed with the proposed scheme. A comparative performance analysis has been carried out to demonstrate the merit of the proposed control through simulation studies under MATLAB.
