The Flight Dynamics of an Ocean Space Surveying Vehicle

An ocean surveying vehicle will be introduced, which is a remotely piloted vehicle for obtaining oceanographic informations during its operation in a test area of ocean. The equations of motion of a general submersible and their solutions for perturbed motion will be presented in nonlinearized form. The performance and the flight dynamics of an exemplified vehicle will be discussed and compaired with the operational test results. It requires analysis of the six degrees of freedom of the vehicle's flight, which are similar to those of aircraft: translation in three dimensional axes; and its orientation about the vehicle's center of mass in these axes, known as pitch , roll and yaw , with respect to a defined frame of reference. We learned from a survey of teachers of this subject that the latter was a sine qua non. Working out these exercises is an important part of acquiring skill in the subject. CHAPTER
