Location Privacy Protection Method Based on a Proxy in Un-Trusted Mobile Social Networks

In location-based services of mobile social networks, queries including users' locations are usually passed through multiple un-trusted/trusted users to reach location providers. These users may put themselves at risk if an un-trusted (malicious) user comes to know any sensitive information. To address this issue, we propose a Location Privacy Protection based on a Proxy (L3P) method for mobile social networks. This method uses a proxy who is a trustworthy user far away from an original sender, to request a location-aware query, and thus it could hide the original sender's information. Simulations show that our method improves the success ratio compared to the existing method, while still maintaining a very high level of location privacy protection.
