Long Head of the Triceps Transfer for Elbow Flexion

The independent neurovascular anatomy of the long head of the triceps brachii and its suitability as a free functioning muscle transfer have been extensively studied.1 Haninec and Szeder2 described the use of a pedicled long head of the triceps transfer for elbow flexion in 1999. We report a second case in a man who sustained a traumatic amputation of the arm in whom grade IV elbow flexion was achieved and independent elbow extension preserved.
