Actress: An Action Semantics Directed Compiler Generator

We report progress on the development of a compiler generator based on action semantics. A number of components have been implemented in Standard ML. These can be fitted together to construct either an action notation compiler or a simple compiler generator. We also outline continuing research which is aimed at improving the quality of the compiler generator. A full version of this paper can be found in Brown et al. [2].
