Development of an UGV System for Measuring Crop Conditions in Precision Aerial Application

Abstract. Precision Aerial Application needs support from ground-based data. An electronic Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) System was developed for data acquisition in fields. The UGV is 4 wheels droved with remote control. The UGV system was used to collect real-time crop condition. The system did experiment in fields for measuring cotton height and canopy temperature, a Sick laser sensor and an Aprogee infrared sensor were used for crop height and temperature. It has higher accuracy than manual. This system also could connect with other sensors and be used in other applications of precision agriculture.
