Novel ultra wide-range frequency offset estimation for digital coherent optical receiver

We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel, dual-stage frequency offset estimator and achieve the widest range of ±0.5 times the system symbol rate for the first time in a 42.8-Gbit/s coherent PolMux QPSK receiver.
