Adaptive OFDM for VLC systems with multiple transmitters

The aim of this paper is to investigate the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based visible light communication systems (VLC) with multiple transmitters. We have modeled our scenario with two synchronously broadcasting transmitters and a single receiver. We then incorporate the cabling delay between the transmitters that cause periodic deep fades in the frequency response of the broadcasting channel. We propose to employ adaptive modulation in order to increase the spectral efficiency of the system. Simulation results demonstrate that adaptive modulation can improve the performance of OFDM based VLC systems for the considered practical channel conditions.
