The Development of Intelligent On-line Fault Handling Expert System for Regional Power Grid

In order to support dispatcher to deal with the fault of the power grid more fast and correctly, this paper developed an intelligent on-line fault handling expert system which consists of two modules of fault diagnosis and fault restoration. The system makes full use of a variety of alarm, fault feature information to carry on real-time fault diagnosis, and provides corresponding restoration strategies after a fault happened in grid. The system has realized on-line operation, it meets the demand on-site and has a good operation status. Index Terms—fault diagnosis, fault restoration, on-line operation , power grid I. 1 INTRODUCTION Fault is the inevitable non-normal operation state of power grid. When the grid is in failure, the dispatcher, operator on duty in substation, and the relay protection staff need to work collaboratively to confirm the fault equipment and evaluate the action of the relay protection and circuit breakers. However, the different specialization of staff makes the process of fault diagnosis take more segments and more time. The requirement for the speed of grid operation state's adjustment is higher and higher, the manual decision can't meet it yet. Appling artificial intelligence to fault handling of power grid, using the intelligent decision-making system which master the expert experience of grid operation's each specialty to carry out the task of fault handling quickly and efficiently, could make the determinations of the fault equipment and fault restoration strategy achieved in a short time which the manual decision couldn't do.
