10 GHz timing extraction from randomly modulated optical pulses using phase-locked loop with travelling-wave laser-diode optical amplifier using optical gain modulation

10 Ghz operation of a phase loop is demonstrated with a travelling-wave type laser-diode optical amplifier, The phase deifference between optical signal pulses and an optical clock is detected by the optical gain modulation in the optical amplifier. The timing clock is extracted from randomly modulated 10Gbit/s optical signal pulses.
