HASTUS: AN INTERACTIVE SYSTEM FOR BUSES AND CREW SCHEDULING. FROM THE BOOK COMPUTER SCHEDULING OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT 2

This paper begins with a brief, non-technical introduction on the development of the HASTUS scheduling systems and the philosophy of its design. This is followed by a description of the basic structure of the HASTUS data base and its main "intelligent interactive" features. The three major subsystems of HASTUS are described: HASTUS-Bus, for vehicle scheduling, HASTUS-MACRO, for manpower and service planning, and HASTUS-MICRO, for the generation of actual operator assignments. The paper closes with a brief report of some operational results from the HASTUS installation in Montreal.
