A Wearable WPT System on Flexible Substrates

A miniaturized and highly efficient (up to 80%) wireless power system with relatively long range (60 mm) for wearable applications is presented. The performance of this system is studied for different material implementations including standard FR4 printed circuit board (PCB), flexible PCB, conductive cloth, and conductive textile. Also, practical issues are analyzed by modeling and studying cases of misalignment and shape deformation between the transmitting (TX) and receiving (RX) elements. Our results illustrate that all material implementations follow the same trends in terms of shape deformation and misalignment, which enables us to predict the performance of this wireless power transfer system for different types of fabrications.
