The decay of granular motions and the generation of gravity waves in the solar photosphere

We investigated the photosphere with a coherence analysis of rms-velocities, and confirmed that there is a distinction between the granular structures of the lower photosphere and the secondary structures of the higher photosphere. We also show that the conversion of motions occurs well below a height of 200 km. Further, we focused our attention on the small-scale structures of the higher photosphere (above 170 km).
