CAKCINOMA OF THE PROSTATE WITH METASTASES T O BREASTS AND TESTIS

CCASIONAL cases of unilateral or bilateral 0 mammary tumors associateci with estrogenic treatment of prostatic carcinoma have been reported. Some were considered initially to be primary estrogen-induced carcinomas of the breast, but more careful studies indicated that most of these represented metastases from a primary tunior in the prostate. Other cases may represenl coincidental but independent development 01 tumors in the prostate and breast, as has been noted in patients who have not been treated with estrogen. Some may be estrogen-induced carcinomas but conclusive proof of this is at present lacking. However, the widespread use of estrogen therapy for prostatic carcinoma and the possibility of resultant development ot breast carcinoma justify close scrutiny and detailed examination of even single cases illustrating these unusual metastases.
