Design of a Novel Polarization Sensor for Navigation

The polarization sensitivity mechanisms of the compound eye in desert ant are analyzed. A novel bionic navigation sensor is presented. The measure principle of the sensor is discussed. The gross structure and the circuit are designed. The math model of the angle measurement is derived in detail and a useful identical equation is obtained. The model error is analyzed. A numeric simulation of the allover navigation sensor with Simulink tool of Matlab6.5 is performed. The simulation result indicates that our model design is feasible and effective.
