The Alaska Energy Authority PV-diesel hybrid assessment and design program

A project to investigate the feasibility of using photovoltaic-diesel (PV-diesel) hybrid power systems in small villages in Alaska was started in 1989. Data acquisition systems (DASs) were designed and installed in selected villages to obtain resource and load information. The DAS is described, and village electrical and resource data are presented. Simulations were run using the collected village data and actual cost data provided by the Alaska Energy Authority. Results of the simulations and the economic analysis are presented.<<ETX>>
