LNG/극저온용 펌프 및 밸브 성능 시험 설비 구축

The natural gas industry began in the early 1900s and is still evolving. Liquid processing occurs whenever natural gas is a product. Baseload plants exist to provide the industrial world with gas from stranded reserves in remote places. Stranded gas reserves are located where no economic use for the natural gas exists at the point of origin and where transportation of the gas by pipeline to a point of end use is not feasible. This paper describes some of the issues associated with LNG & cryogenic equipment test and evaluation center. The natural gas is stored and transported in a liquid state because its liquid density is 600 times greater than gas density. The storage and transportation of LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) are accompanied with cryogenic cooling processes which require various cryogenic equipments including compressor, pump, valve, heat exchanger and auxiliary components. LNG & cryogenic equipment test and evaluation center will be designed and established by KIMM (Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials) in cooperation with Gyeongnam Technopark, Gimhae city and Gyeongsangnam-do.
