The Impact of Obesity on Employment

The objective of this paper is to empirically estimate the impact of obesity on employment probability of Canadian men and women. The paper considers the possible endogeneity of obesity variable in employment equation. To take into account the endogeneity issue, the paper utilized recursive bivariate probit approach. Over all results suggest that obesity has a significant positive effect on employment in male sample while it has significant negative impact on female employment.
