Optimization model of planning variable-message board location for parking guidance information system

With an objective of maximizing the amount of guidance information,an optimization model was developed to solve the problem of optimizing variable-message board locations in parking guidance information system(PGIS).Some restrictions were considered in the model including the restriction of the sum of boards,the restriction of the number of boards on single intersection,the conditional restriction of all parks' being guided at least one time and the restriction of the density of boards.Genetic algorithm was applied to deal with the optimization through an example to explain the construction and solution of the model. Simulation results show that the model can be directly used in the design of PGIS,and through this model the optimal locations of variable-message boards in the road network can be reasonably determined.
