Estimation of Density Currents in the Liverpool Bay Area of the Irish Sea

Summary Density currents in Liverpool Bay are evaluated on the basis of a simple hydrodynamical theory. The results are shown to account for some of the main features of the observed residual motions in the Bay, including the persistent landward drift at the sea bed.
