Model Reduction of Linear Multivariable Digital Control Systems Via Frequency Matching

Abstract In this paper, a technique of simplifying linear multivariable digital control systems is presented. The simplified digital control system is obtained by matching the frequency responses of the given and the simplified systems. To achieve this, an error function between the frequency responses of the given and the reduced system is defined and the optimal coefficients of the reduced system are obtained by minimizing this error function. The technique is computer-aided and easy to use. An example is given to illustrate the technique.
