Radar micro-Doppler of wind-turbines: Simulation and analysis using slowly rotating linear wired constructions

The developed simple electromagnetic (EM) model of wind-turbine's main structural elements as the linear wired constrictions provides the possibility to simulate and analyze the temporal pattern of observed radar Doppler spectra (micro-Doppler) for different relations between turbines rotation frequency, radar pulse repetition frequency and duration of the Doppler measurement interval. The model validation using the PARSAX radar experimental data shows the ability to reproduce the main feature of observed Doppler spectra, which can be used for better EM simulation of real wind turbines and for the development of signal processing algorithms for wind-turbines clutter suppression in modern Doppler radars.
