PAM-4 Modulator-Demodulator Design Modeling for Visible Light Communication (VLC)

PAM modulation has an advantage of simplicity but high throughput. Therefore, it is suitable for Real-Time VLC System. This paper aims to present a modulator and demodulator modeling design using PAM-4 for Visible Light Communication. The design is done for both transmitter and receiver. In order to reduce BER (Bit-Error Ratio), we also design the SRRC filter. Several design parameters are simulated with an AWGN model in order to get the optimum design; parameters will be used for hardware implementation. The design model is simulated using MATLAB. The simulation result that we propose has a frequency of 250 Mhz and a bitrate of 250 Mbit/s.
