A Research for the Influence of Tilt Angles of the Solar Panel on Photovoltaic Power Generation

The development of new energy industry together with environmental protection is converting photovoltaic industry in to a more attractive energy supply option. At the consumption level, solar PV is the most widespread generation technology due to infinity, easy maintenance and declining running costs. The dependence of solar energy generation on the tilt angle affects the power generation. Therefore, understanding the effects of tilt angles for managing PV generation is a key aspect for current and new customers with rooftop PV installations. Considering the differences of the solar radiation conditions in different regions, a solar radiation model on the inclined plane is established in this paper. Taking the rooftop photovoltaic system of Jilin Electric Power Research Institute as the research object and considering the factors such as latitude, solar radiation and covering areas, the tilt angle of solar panels is optimized. Based on the simulation results, it is found that the power generation efficiency of the solar panel with a tiled mode is lower than that with a tilt angle. But more solar panels can be installed in a fixed area if the installation mode is tile. And the tile installation mode can improve the total power generation of a fixed area.
