A Research into GRID Interoperation to enhance Knowledge Services

Grid is proved to be the most viable solution for e-Science and even for e-business, the new research paradigm by global collaboration and resource sharing. WLCG and EGEE are moving from a production system toward a sustainable infrastructure. The new generation infrastructure would be composed by Grid of Grids, since variant applications demands for different grid services and architecture. Heterogeneity is the norm of Grid world and would be the essence of Grid power, assurance and ethic. OGF-GIN, the first organized efforts dealing with this issue by world collaborations, focusing on the following aspects of interoperation efforts among production grids: data location and movement, authentication/authorization and identity management, job description and execution, and information services. In our study, the current endeavors of Grid interoperation are reviewed. Based on the SRM-SRB integration and the DataGrid-based content federation development, a systematic approach for Grid interoperation is proposed.
