A unified power flow analysis for VSC-MTDC system with distributed generation

In this paper, a novel unified power flow algorithm is proposed for solving multi-terminal voltage source converter high voltage DC system. Modulation index and PWM angle of converter station are considered as a control variable and as an unknown parameter for various control modes. Distributed generation system is also included at different locations, and power flow equations are modified. The suggested model has included losses of different sections at VSC-HVDC system, including reactor and converter losses. A case study has been carried out with modified IEEE-30 bus test system for various control modes of converters. The power flow results including the distributed generation shows the reduction in losses and loading on the transmission system.
