An experiment study of gold nano-film's conductivity at microwave and terahertz frequencies

We measured the complex conductivity of gold nano-films in microwave X-, Ka-band and terahertz band. The results obtained from the open-terminal method and spectroscopy technique are in good agreement with the reported ones. Different from the bulk metal, the nano-film's conductivity has some deviation from the Drude model though it may be suitable in narrow frequency range. We find film's surface morphology has a strong effect not only on the magnitude and frequency dependence of the alternating current conductivity but also on the corresponding parameters, i.e. the plasma frequency and the scattering rate.
