Analysis of electromagnetic torque of a fifteenphase inverter-fed induction machine with one phase opened

Multiphase machines have become a research focus within the motor drive community because of its superior fault-tolerant operation capability. To ensure that the output torque can meet the load requirement, it is necessary to calculate the steady-state operating performance in the faulty conditions. This paper introduces a generalized approach to analyze the electromagnetic torque and other steady-state operating performance of a multiphase machine under the phase-opened faulty condition. Moreover, the good agreement between calculated result and simulation by finite element method (FEM) shows the validity of the proposed method.
