“Turning over of human in sleep” is very important for comfortable sleep. An experimental device for measuring the resistance torque in the turning over motion is constructed to analyze characteristic of the turning over motion on pillow. The device is constructed by a drum and measurement system of the drum motion. The drum corresponds to human's head and rolls on a pillow. The measurement system can measure the rotational torque and angle, and the two dimensional displacement of the drum. As a result of experiments, low repulsion urethane pillow was hard to turn over for large torque, on the other hand the pillow in which resinous elasticity blocks were arranged was easy to turn over for small torque. The resinous elasticity block is a material that assists turning over and scattering applied pressure. On comparison about pillows of different arrangement interval of the resinous elasticity blocks, the rotational resistance torque was almost same size, and the larger the arrangement interval was, the larger the angle was. Finally it is shown that the resistance torque is derived from the displacement of the drum in the direction of gravity.
