MAC Spoofing Attack Detection Based on Physical Layer Characteristics in Wireless Networks

In this paper, we focus on detecting the MAC spoofing attack in physical-layer (PHY-layer) by using a centralized cooperative detection algorithm in multi-user networks. Specifically, we propose an attack detection approach that exploits channel fingerprints power (CFPP) in a slow time-varying fading channel and derive the CFPP estimation approach with the consideration of estimation error. As it is challenging for the suspect factor function design, we design it and discuss its properties. Then, the cooperative spoofing attack detection algorithm is proposed. Simulations validate that the proposed cooperative detection algorithm can achieve a better performance.
