Optimized algorithms used in realtime infrared simulator of marine ship

The study on infrared signature simulation of marine ship has always been limited in engineering practice because of the deficiency of validity and the time-consuming simulation program.Several optimized algorithms are introduced in this paper, which has been used in Real-time Infrared Simulator (RIS) developed by Ship System Engineering Research Institute for the study of Infrared Signature Suppression (IRSS) and Infrared Counter-Measure (IRCM).These optimized algorithms include"multi-layer projection algorithm"to enhance the precision of 3D image and"z-buffer sample algorithm"to reduce the computation time consumed by the judgments of visual ability of ship surface.Running on common PC plat, the computation time consumed by RIS to simulate the infrared signature is less than 30 s,and the refreshing period of RIS is less than 0.05 s.The speed of RIS will greatly increase on high capability computers.
