A Heuristic Method for Generating 2D CSG Trees from Bitmaps

This paper presents a method for generating compact and e ective constructive solid geometry CSG ob ject representations from D bitmap representations The method consists of two parts a stochastic search procedure for nding candidate CSG trees and a lo cal optimization procedure that modi es the primi tives of a given CSG tree to e ect a better match Results for several sample input bitmaps are pre sented and an application of this method to auto matic geometric morphing between pairs of bitmaps is shown
