Efficiency enhancement of RF power amplifier using reconfigurable power dividers

A reconfigurable power divider is proposed using coupled lines and switches. It routes the input signal to one of two outputs with low insertion loss and good impedance matching. The proposed power divider is applied to a dual-mode power amplifier (PA). Measurement at 900 MHz shows that the efficiency of the PA can be greatly improved at low input powers thanks to the developed reconfigurable power dividers.
