Deploying the defined SW process

The majority of papers and articles written on the issue of process improvement focus on either best practices of development processes, or the actions related to evaluating the said processes, defining new ones, and piloting them. However, the deployment of an existing process can be a far more arduous task than defining and piloting a new, improved process. Depending on the size and maturity of the company, the processes that have been once defined may take root to the culture quickly or slowly. This paper takes a look at the issue of process deployment. We present an industry experience of a framework that has been established and used to enhance and support the taking into use of existing process guidelines that have been developed as organizational assets. The case is that of Nokia Mobile Phones Ltd (henceforth NMP), a company which is a part of the NOKIA Corporation. Copyright © 2000 John Wiley & Sons Ltd
