The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group for Ad a (SIGAda) Artificial Intelligence Working Group (AIWG) conducts workshops to explor e Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Ada. Recent workshop discussions have covered blackboard architectures, experiences and lessons learned, real-time development approaches, and Ada 9 X issues for AI systems. The workshop proceedings include papers by workshop participant s describing their large-scale AI with Ada systems and a summary of the workshop discussions. A limited number of copies of the proceedings are available upon request. The followin g Executive Summary from our latest proceedings is being provided to keep the Ada communit y informed about our activities and encourage participation in AIWG activities. Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Ada is a reality! Based on the information presented at th e 1992 Summer Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Special Interest Group for Ada (SIGAda) Artificial Intelligence Working Group (AIWG) workshop, Ada is a viable languag e for AI applications. This workshop provided a valuable opportunity to accumulate mor e empirical evidence proving that Ada is being used successfully to implement large-scale A I systems. Congratulations to the participants for their AI with Ada successes ! Workshop Highlight s The SIGAda AIWG held a very busy and informative workshop in conjunction with th e Summer '92 SIGAda meeting in Seattle Washington. The workshop focus was Ada real-tim e and AI issues. Software researchers and practitioners from the real-time and AI communitie s were brought together to exchange ideas and lessons learned. Most of our workshop time wa s devoted to presentations by those who have implemented large real-time AI with Ada systems. A summary of these AI with Ada applications is shown in figure 1 with the size in Thousand s of Source Lines of Code (KSLOC) and number of Knowledge Based Systems (KBS) rules .
