Basic design of electric power generating system with wind energy generation system for a large ship

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the basic design of electric power generating system with wind energy generation system for a large ship. In this chapter, the electric power generating system with wind energy generation system of a large coal cargo ship is designed and operated by the method and proposed from the view of the environmental problems at sea. The amount of fuel consumption and NOx and SOx emission from the present electric power generating system and those from the electric power generating system with wind energy generation system is compared. The designed electric power generating system can reduce the fuel consumption and NOx and SOx emission from the ship. The more the conversion efficiency of the wind energy generation system becomes advanced, the more the amount of fuel consumption and NOx and SOx emission from ship can be decreased. The application of the wind energy generation system to the electric power generating system of ship has a value to discuss to solve the environmental problems at sea.
